My father in law has been given an american laptop. He cannot fine the '@' key.
I searched on the internet and discovered that he should use 'shift and 2'. He has tried this but it does not work.
Anyone know how to resolve this.

Thanks in advance.

  • when i was in asia I bought a toshiba laptop with an American keyboard.

Unfortunately I don't have it now but I seem to recall that the symbol @ was where the symbol " is - above the number 2.

You can try to switch the keyboard to English style and a useful article on how to do it is here:

Shift-apostrophe is a UK layout, not an American one (the other posters were right, shift-2 is correct one on a US keyboard) - but anyway good to see you got it sorted!
  • my keyboard has shift and 2 as @ printed on it but i have to press the apostrophe instead that is how i know....glad i could help!

That would happen if you have a US keyboard, but the input (keyboard) settings in Windoze (or whatever) are set to UK.
