Section 75 - how does the £100 rule work?

Recently purchased some Ryanair tickets using credit card (direct from Ryanair) for some flights next Spring. Total value of the transaction was £320, but this was for return flights for 4 people of £80 each (or, to be more precise, £40 each way).
If Ryanair went bust, would I be able to use section 75 protection and claim against the credit card company?

    Yes.

The Ryanair credit card is provided by GE Money.
  • Sorry, my posting was a little ambiguous! The flights were booked direct with Ryannair, the credit card used is a Lloyds TSB Mastercard. My concern is that whilst the total transaction is for £320, the individual elements (8 one way journeys) are all under £100, therefore I am questioning whether section 75 applies.

Unfortunately it looks like each item must be over £100 rather than the total cost so it doesn't look like you'd be protected.

Is it safe to buy? - "Fly to Traveltown with Holidayair on flights costing £99 outbound and £9.99 back, and while it’s over £100 in total, as no single ticket was over £100 you’re not protected. Yet if Holidayair had only sold return journeys and you bought a specific £109 return ticket then you would be covered."
