ScottishHydroElectric rise
Options
We received a letter on Monday 13th Oct telling us that prices are to rise by 29.2% for gas and 19.2% for electricity...from the 25th August 2008! My hubby phoned the next day to discuss raising the direct debit to cover this, and asked also if this meant we were being asked to pay more for fuel which we had already paid for. The answer was Yes and the extra had been added on already. Hubby pointed out this seemed unfair, after all, if you buy a pair of shoes, you do not expect the assistant to come to your door 2 months later and say that the price has gone up and you owe them the increase. He was told that they are allowed to do this upto 6 weeks after an increase!!! But Old Eagle Eyes glanced at his wall planner and spotted that it was more than 6 weeks between 25/8 and 13/10...so many apologies and a promise of a cheque in the post to refund the increase. Watch this space!
How many other ScottishHydroElectric customers received the same letter on Monday and did not realise they were being charged in retrospect, and illegally. Go check your letters. What a nice little earner for SHE.

Congratulations for getting something back, but in fact they have 65 days (just over 9 weeks) to let you know.
Sounds like you benefitted from speaking to someone who didn't know this.0 -
It's actually 65 working days.0
