plug and play on xp

Options
HELP!! just got a 2nd hand lap top given to me off my mum. it is on XP.

took some pics with digital camera, plugged it in thinking the box would come up to ask what i would like to to with the pics, i.e. save to folder or disc etc....(think this is the plug n play bit) and nothing happened.

i have looked in the device manager and it says the plug and play is installed and used the wizard to update, but it said it did not need updating.

can i run this manually? if so, how?

thanx

Hi there,You may need the Disc driver to the camera and install that so Windows can recongnise the camera.Does the camera use a memory card?If so, a card reader with USB is an easier option. :xmastree:

    try to go to:

start - all programs - accessories - windows explorer

it should add another drive on the left hand side - click on, ensure camera is switched on - away you go.

    or........

    as above but -

start - all programs - accessories - scanner and camera wizard

Yeah some digital cameras need a TWAIN driver which is really annoying as you don't get all the functionality of exploring the camera as an extra drive.

You might need to install some drivers that came with the camera (or download them from the manufacturer's website).

Connect the camera and have it switched on. If plug and play doesnt work then

Start, My computer, Removeable disc drive (the camera), DCIM, then click the folder with the name of the camera on ie 100CANON, then the pics should be inside.

Thats how I get to my pics quickly without using any other software.
