  • I'm on PAYG with Vodafone and get a certain amount of free calls and texts per month, if I top up with a certain amount - not a lot - they have various tariffs.

    Hi SH,

Thanks for that, I'm going to have a look at the £10 a day challenge now. Am ebayig and using r points for my normal purchases to build cash back. Have signed up to be a mystery shopper about a month ago but nothing so far, will join another one i think. Am also ebaying atm! Thanks

Nearly my bed time so I will go away and leave you alone soon!!

I've sold a lot of books on Amazon - I'm a big reader so had a massive clear out of books one day and sold loads - might be worth a try?

  • Hi there...

Have you looked at ways to earn extra cash? I was in financial services and struggling for business as i was self employed. 5 months ago i came across an internet marketing company. There are scammers out there but i liked this one because they provided a phone number. I started part time and made such good money i am now a full time marketer. I work the hours i want to suit around my children and have 2-3 training sessions over the phone every week so am never left on my own. I am so glad i made the call as i have never looked back.

Get back to me if this is something you may be interested in...

    Regards

    Emma

I called and after a few discussions
  • Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the advice! Deep I just have a few questions and updates and just wondered if you can help me out. (or anyone else)!!

I am on a break this week from my job and one of my top ten to do's this week was sort out my finances once and for all! I called credit action and went on the cccs website and after some tweaking here and there and being realistic with the money I submitted my SOS. It gave me the options of going bankrupt or a low start dmp so after a lot of thinking I have decided that the l/s dmp would be the best for me as I would like to try and pay my debts back and I'm not saying that pride gets in the way here but I have seen so many people go b/k before and they don't seem to have a care in the world and I want to atleast be able to say ok so i got myself into this mess and I've got myself out again!

I have to say that cccs were so helpful and for the first time in ages I feel positive about going forward with all of this but I am a little scared about all the hassle I am going to get from the creditors.

I read through and was a little concerned about some of the stuff in my debt remedy which was hoping you could help me with- Am I going to have to work out which creditor will be getting what or will cccs be doing this for me and put it in my pack and secondly if I do have to do the above how do i go about this? Also some of my payments are due in the next couple of weeks so do I just go about cancelling all dd's and keeping the money I have saved from not paying these elsewhere so that I can put this towards extra payments or emergencies?

Also should I open a new account now? I was thinking just about getting all my finances paid into my joint account however this is with Natwest and I have a credit card and student overdraft which are also Natwest and have been listed in my DMP- will they try and take money from my joint account? and can they do this even if my OH is also a co owner of this account? Would it be better to open a seperate account? but can I still keep my joint account?!

Sorry to ask so many questions but I just need some advice and basically if you could give me a step by step as to how you got started with your dmp etc that would really help! :)

    DD

Also I read my remedy online and then went ahead with everything and now I can't view it!! I'm such an idiot- will CCCS send me all this again? Thanks!

We can provide you with what is known as a telephone letter, telling the creditors to communicate only by letter and to take your phone numbers off their records. it will not wholly stop the hassle but it will reduce it. If they do ring, then refuse to answer the security questions and they can progress no further. Get OH clued up on this as well.

CCCS will work out what you have left over each month and allocate that spare pro-rata to the creditors. if you then build up any extra funds, you can ask them to allocat ethis as well but you need to get the message accross that this was earned from a vry short-term cntract etc.

regarding the DDs due shortly, i would advise not doing anything to alert your existing bank until you have the other accounts set up.

You need to close the joint account before the DMP starts. If you want to protect your BF then he needs to open an alternative account in his name only and you pay x per month into his account as soon as you ar epaid. Then you set up the DDs as per now.

You nedd your own basic bank account from which you can pay into OH's and and other DDs.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • Hi RAS,

Is closing the joint account the only thing I can do? CCCS told me that BF will not be affected by my DMP as I am not listing our joint account as a debt for my DMP? I don't really want to close this account but wouldn't mind opening my own one with a seperate bank- any ideas?

If you have a joint account with BF, he is financially associated with you. If your credit rating is affected by the DMP, as it will be, then that association affects his credit rating.

It is correct that his financial affairs are not affected, but not that his credit rating is safe if you have a joint account and go on a DMP.

If his credit rating is trashed anyway, it does not matter. If it is currently good, then he might want to protect it. it will make things like renting easier if you do that.

With your joint account being at the same bank as your CC and OD, you need to double check, but they may be able to use money paid into the joint account to offset the debt on the accounts in your name. It may come down to the T&Cs on your accounts.

Even if you keep the existing account, get your name taken off it.

And with regards to the idea of getting everything piad into the joint account, I am going to be a bit of a damp squib here. What happens if you and BF bust up badly? Sorry, we see this here all the time. Joint account, maxed out, partner goes AWOL and you get left bearing the whole debt or with your salary used to offset joint debts.

Not worth the risk. Keep you own account and then pay money into a "joint account", even if it is actually in his name.

  • Hi RAS,

Thanks for this. We have no overdraft facility or anything on the joint account, was purely just for rent and bills and just made things more convenient- will discuss me coming off of this when he gets home but I don't think will be an issue- I do see what you are saying here.

Can you recommend another bank that I could bank with or anyone thats had a good reputation on here for a current account? Also am I right in thinking that I can only open an account now with a solo card? Is this true? If I did open another account with a debit card/cheque gurantee card- will this be taken away when I start my DMP? Thanks- sorry for all the questions
