Balance Transfer - how long should they take?

Did a BT from Egg to Sainsburys Bank..... the money showed on my Sainsburys card a couple of weeks ago, but the money still hasn't made it to Egg! How long should it take? I'm now worried that something has gome wrong and I'll be stuck with £1600 in two places!

Not 100% sure what you are saying. "BT from Egg" Yes, so that implies you had a debt with them which you paid off.. "money showed on Sainsburies card" Presumably the 0% 'debit' balance representing the money they paid Egg.

If this is so. Then you need to contact Egg and ask them to look for the payment. Assuming they find it you want to ask them to refund the interest for the delay in receiving/crediting the money.

Ask Sainsburys the same thing. They sent the money. Get them to confirm the Egg reference number used was the correct one (they are responsible for using the correct account number and sort code themselves)

This won't somehow sort itself out; if the payment takes more than a few days to arrive then it isn't going to for one reason or another. I've had one payment to Egg go missing down the years - and it took Egg about 3 weeks after being contacted to 'trace' the payment.

So it's in your interests to crack on and speak to both ends now..

Two weeks max. Maybe someone incorrectly inputted the odd digit for the card number? If that's the case it will take a while for the bank to sort out, but that is worst case scenario.

So it turns out they mis-keyed two numbers and have taken £1600 off someone elses card! Apparently it could take upto 6 weeks to recall that money before they can take the BT off my Egg card Bad times!
