  • We went last year, Ciampino airport. Frequent Terravision bus to Termini station, so we stayed in a hostel nearby. It helped that it was only a 5 minute walk to catch the bus back to the airport. We walked all over, caught the express bus to the Vatican from Termini bus station, and would maybe use the hop on/hop off tour bus next time to save on walking. Local Trattoria was fantastic to eat in-packed out with locals.
I did originally look on !!!!!!!!!!! for hotels, but breakfast didn't seem to be included that often.

Yep Rome Rome Rome all the time over Paris for me.. agree Ciampino airport is easy to get to and from using the bus.
Got a tip too if you do go and visit the Sistene Chapel a short cut through to the Vatican can save you a couple of hours queueing outside. Let me know if you plan to go and i will share.
Again walk around the city or/ and for the Vatican use the Hop on Hop off bus.

One of the cheapest districts tends to be around termini-The station.I have stayed at a hotel there ,it was quite good, but always check out hotels in this district on tripadviser.Like most citys-the area around the station often is a haunt for drug uses. There good bits and not so good bits.
