Low-cost airline Thomsonfly has said it is halting its operations from Coventry Airport from November.
The airline blamed an increased focus on charter flights rather than the scheduled ones operating from Coventry.
Thomsonfly runs the only passenger service at the airport, where it began operations in March 2004.

This is appalling. Coventry is an excellent small airport, very convenient and friendly. There are only 2 check-in desks, two departure gates and one baggage carousel. A new terminal would have made it perfect.
The reason behind all this is the local Nimby brigade moaning about the airport which was there years before they lived there. Plus the usual tree huggers and yogurt knitters whingeing about the planet! Can they not see that passengers will just be driven to using other airports, notably Birmingham which is a corporate sh!thole.
These protesters have prevented the existing terminal, a glorified portakabin affair, being replaced by a proper building. That will now result in not only job losses at the airport, but also endanger all the businesses which have set up in the Baginton area (nowhere near any housing) around the airport.
What makes it worse is that the corporate mob behind Birmingham Airport have been supporting these protests. How disingenuous, and how stupid are the protestors. BHX had good reason to want the opposition closed down. They will now push for runway and terminal expansion which will have far more environmental impact than a new terminal at CVT.0 -
This is very short notice to announce that they are pulling out. Only just outside the 2 week period when the EU compensation kicks in
If you have booked from Coventry and are offered Birmingham flights make sure you demand some compensation, taxi from your house, free meal onboard etc.

Wizzair also operated from Coventry, but I notice they have stopped flying from there as well. Being a "Coventry Kid" I am saddened by this news. I agree that the silent hand of Birmingham airport seems to be behind sabotaging the new terminal plans. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Have to admit, I've never flown from there as I live right next to BHX , but it is a shame it is going as it is handier for some and does help keep the costs down for us all. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... With REGRET it is that Coventry will most probally close,i have used the airport on numerous occassions and always had a good punctual flight.I recently flew from Birmingham on Thomson fly it actually took 1hour and 20 minutes to get from checking in to the departure lounge IT WAS A DISGRACE WE WERE QUEING OUT OF THE TERMINAL and upon return again it was over 1 hour before we got our baggage.I have been using Doncaster but i think that will go the same way as coventry very shortly.0

Sure that wasn't the day when there was a fire alarm gone off and they had to evacuate the airport?
I use Birmingham several times a year and can be checked in and into the departure lounge in only a few minutes. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... I see, that would be the airline themselves then, only having so many desks and them choosing to allow all flights to be checked in at the same time.
Not really BHX's fault, but the airlines. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc...
