video novice- needs help

i have taken 30mins of video on my mobile phone (real player).
it is of my husband catching his first tarpon (fish) and is his pride and joy.
i want to do some video editing and put it on dvd.
i have looked at the free stuff but the file is too big.
so does anyone have any reccondmendations of what i could buy.
i have looked at adobe elements, pinacle etc but i am not sure if they will work with the phone video.
