Sharp Microwaves

My last Sharp microwave suddenly died around 2 months after the guarantee ran out.

We thought we were just unlucky so went for another, based on the design and cost of them. Our most recent one is now also ready for the tip, the inside is very rusty, which in turn has stained the white interior. The turntable also stops turning during cooking.

It's not used that much either and always kept clean.

We've now had 2 microwaves in less than 2.5 years, which I think is rather excessive.

I have emailed Sharp but doubt very much if we'll hear anything.

No more Sharps for us.:o

  • I got a sharp combi microwave and oven and the combi oven never worked properly. After calls and emails I was told to take it to their "recommended" engineer for him to adjust it but the shop was over 20 miles away and I just didn't bother in the end. Prior to that I had a Panasonic combi and it was brilliant so when I finally get round to replacing this useless Sharp model, I'll go for a Panasonic.

With hindsight, I should have been more persistent - the shop referred me to Sharp and Sharp fobbed me off. I hope you have more success than I did.

I'd never again buy a Sharp product after a TV we had broke two weeks out of guarantee. A Sharp approved repair company diagnosed a known fault which had rendered the TV unrepairable and even showed us a newsletter which had come from Sharp a few months earlier, mentioning this problem. Sharp's only response was that the repair company should not have disclosed this information to a customer.

Pleased to hear this, I have been looking at Panasonic one, also like the Bosch too. Glad your Panny was reliable.;)

of coures your all expecting this so ill post--Had a Sharp Microwave for 20 years, never went wrong, gave it away still working perfictly, mind you the old "Manual" ones were more reliable.
  • I spent a day working in the factory where they make some of their microwaves a few years back, you get your hands cut to ribbons and are given no safety goggles or gloves. Needless to say I never went back.

I think the old versions of all electrical goods were more reliable, they certainly don't make things how they used to do they?
  • Adandem I had a Panasonic Genius I think it was called, way back in the late 80's but it got stolen when we had a break in. I then got another as a replacement from the insurance and that was slightly upgraded and still absolutely brilliant. I only got rid of the Panasonic because it got a bit battered although it still worked perfectly and I replaced it with my Sharp one which I thought would be even better. What I got was just a glorified microwave because the oven and grill have never worked properly. I should have stuck with a Panasonic!
