DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY !
Everything on their website suggests that they are based in the UK... 0207 telephone number, sterling prices etc., etc.
They are, however, based in the USA and if you order anything from them they will charge your credit card for more than the price stated on their site and, indeed, on your invoice !
I had the unfortunate experience of ordering a camera from them at the end of November 2005 - price on the site and on my invoice £799.95. BUT the charge on my credit card was £822.09 !! And that may not have been the end of the price increase... I was expecting to have to pay VAT and Import Duty on the camera as well.
As soon as I discovered this (2.5 hours after I had ordered the camera), I sent them an email in an attempt to cancel the order, stated that I wished to cancel the order on their "Contact Us" screen and contacted the Disputes Processing department of my credit card company and reported the matter to them.
Nine days later, after emails, faxes and letters to GeoTrust (the Site Security provider), the Office of Fair Trading, Watchdog and Consumer Direct (and to myDV.co.uk threatening legal action), I received an email from them confirming the cancellation of the order and promising me a refund. I am waiting to see the amount of the refund and will keep you informed.
Their published prices are very tempting, but my advice is to KEEP WELL AWAY FROM THEM !

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I suggest if ever you want to use a merchant that you have never heard of that you type their name into Google along with the word "review". I just tried it and the first link it comes back with is this:
http://www.kelkoo.co.uk/ctl/do/maxiMerchantReviews?contentId=4753223&page=1
where you can find many unhappy customers.
Bit late to tell you now, though.0 -

As stated above, it's always a good idea to do a search before using a company for the first time.
MyDV usually make an appearance on these forums every couple of weeks or so when someone else has been pulled in.
Unfortunately they're well known for their poor practices.Dave. :wave:0 -
Also there is no address on the website. I believe there's a requirement under the Distance Selling regulations for companies in the UK to provide a real address.0

The company inst UK based so may well not have to comply. This company is well known for ripping people off, they make Ebuyer look like Angels.0

I've had this happen to me too when ordering a wedding dress for a friend. When I complained to the credit card company (Barclaycard) they informed me that the company was based in the US. Barclaycard refunded me though as the amount was negligible - about £14. I don't know if they sought to recover this from the dress company but I doubt it.The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.0
