Urgent Please Help - Lost Document

GOT IT BACK THANKS!!! SLIGHT GLITCH WITH WORD NOT RESPONDING!!

I have just spent 4 hours typing a statement for court which is urgent.
It was emailed to me and I opened the attachment and started adding bits to it and kept saving it by clicking the save icon. I didn't do a save as as thought this would be saving it.
I then closed the doc by clicking on the red cross.

Now I can't find it, have I lost it all? I have opened the attachment again and it just has the original.

In tears as we speak, please tell me it will still be there. I have also tried a search using the doc title as in the attachment but nothing?

Please help if you can!!!

Make sure your search includes system files and program files. It sounds like it might be in your temporary files. I don't use internet explorer, but this might help you find it:

    hello

if you opened the file from outlook, when click save it should save the file back into outlook.

you have not put in what software you used to edit the file.

as micorsoft word auto saves it works every ten mins (default is on)

also what OS are you using as the file will be saved as a temp file in your temp internet files.

    sorry to double post.

but on my system, (windows xp, and running word 2007)

you need to goto your profile

    goto start, and then run

    enter CMD and click enter.

(i am taking it you used normal settings)

    press enter after each line

    C:\

    cd documents and settings
    cd {yourusername} (ie, CD tasone)
    cd local settings
    cd temporary internet files

NOW, for 2007 follow this bit
    cd content.outlook
    DIR /A
it will list a folder (mine is called 2wsahma1)
    cd {nameoffolderabove} (ie, CD 2WsAHMA1)
    dir /a

this will list the files that has been saved in their

    copy "nameoffile" c:

this will copy the file to the root level of the C drive for you

so if the file is called For the Courts (you need the ")

you would need to type in copy "for the courts.doc" c:

    FOR WORD 2002/2003
at this stage you need to type in
    dir /a

this will list a few folder, you need to check each in turn
say for EG, you have the following folders
    tasone1
    tasone2
    tasone3

as you need to check each one in turn
    cd tasone1
    dir /a
    if file not their
    cd ..
    cd tasone2
    dir /a
    again if not their
    cd ..
    cd tasone3
    etc etc

if the file is found, copy to c drive as above

    Regards
