Quick note for the Chilli for you, my usual cooking method is fry the onions til softened, chop/crush the garlic in, put the mince in, cook till browned, add the mushrooms, pop in the jar sauce (I don't always used jar but use other spices and things, jar is the quick option for an injection of flavour.) bung in the tinned stuff and simmer. Season with a bit of salt n pepper. I like it quite thick but simmer for a bit, add water, simmer a bit longer. Cooking takes about an hour. Can do it in 20 minutes but longer lets the flavours infuse!

£37.50 should be straightforward enough (depending upon petrol usage obviously!)
I typically spend about £15-£20 a week on food for myself and my moggy. It can be difficult at times, but once you get into the habit, it's usually ok. I have a Bollywood night on payday each month and buy in the party pack of bhajis and the like from Farmfoods (for a fiver), have a few friends over with some extra nibbles, and it's usually a right good night. Very cheap too!Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
Hey guys
Well I'm into week number 2 and so far I've overspent
I've only over spent by £8.70 meaning that this week I am going to try to keep my costs to £28 and that should be me back on track.

have you kept a diary/total of what you have spent?
in hindsight, could you have done without any of the spending?
re. food spends, get into collecting money-off coupons/vouchers (especially from newspapers/mags at work) and there are printable ones on here too.
asda will take 10% off your bill and tesco as many different ones as you have - you can halve your shopping bill like this;)0
