BR date booked

Hi,
just an update to say we've booked OH's court date for BR - Monday 3rd Nov. We have an appt with CCCS the previous Monday, but as we've done the Debt Remedy online we already know they're going to recommend BR - no choice really as no money to pay debts at all.
I'm still off with stress, which feels really weak but I can honestly say I've never felt so stressed in my life. Every waking thought is about BR, and will be until 3rd Nov! Saw GP this am - she's fantastic and very supportive. I really struggled to actually tell her about the BR - nearly had a panic attack in the surgery (how embarrassing!:o) Cried all over her and felt like a twerp.
Cancelled all creditors DDs yesterday - wow, that felt weird! OH did it online. We just sat there for a few minutes afterwards, thinking "we're really doing this!" Also opened him a basic co-op account, which was fine but we couldn't bring ourselves to tell them why he wanted that account. Finding it really difficult to actually talk about it to other people, even those who we know will be supportive.
Anyway, that's where we are right now. We both really appreciate all the support and helpful advice on here. Thanks guys! :T

hi i know just how your felling OH just gone to work feeling like crap, and im always at the doctors for stress and anxity , weve just got our date for BR 27 oct the quicker the better
hope it all goes well for yous , :A0 -
Don't feel bad about feeling stressed....it's only natural. All this puts you under an awful lot of strain. I've been off with stress, which led into depression for over a year now, and now facing BR doesn't exactly help with that. The sooner it's all dealt with the better and you can start to breathe easy again.
I try to do practical things like eat enough and make sure you get some fruit and veg down you, it's all too easy to get into not eating and sleeping properly isn't it? I know what you mean about your every waking moment is taken up with it. I can't think about anything else either and can't seem to make a decision either way yet.
Anyway I wish you all the very best and keep us posted as to how you get on.0 -

Hi There,
My OH went BR at the beginning of September but it was mid July when we started the ball rolling with everything, cancelling direct debits etc.
It was a very tough time, I know what you mean about thinking of nothing else it was all we thought about from the minute we woke up to the minute we went to bed! Ive also always been a very heavy sleeper but during this period i'd wake up at the slightest thing and just lie there panicking were we doing the right thing? What do we do about the house? So many questions! So much to do!
I felt ill and constantly tired with the enormous pressure of everything......but I can honestly say now please try not to worry too much(easier said than done I know!)We are now just over a month into our bankruptcy and although I know we still have a journey ahead of us the pressure has eased immensely we are settled in our new home, life seems a lot quieter, the phone hardly ever rings and I relish not having to cue up in various banks constantly paying huge amounts off credit card bills!
Someone on the forum gave me a good piece of advice when we were going through this time about looking forward ,things will settle down, before you know it will be Christmas and you will be settled into your new life, debt free!
Just try and get through this hard time as best as you can, things will soon move along, any questions the people on here are fantastic if you are unsure of anything no matter how small or silly it may seem!
Take care

I took an 11 month 'holiday' from paying my bills before BR. OR couldn't accuse me of favouring one creditor over another. Actually it just took me that long to get things ready for BR so my OH didnt have to go BR as well.

Thanks guys,
It's so helpful knowing we're not alone in this! I just phoned my sister to tell her, and her 1st question was "what about us as guarantors?" - they are guarantors for our rent!! I explained (calmly - quite proud of that:rolleyes:) that the rent is a priority payment and won't be affected. But there was no "Oh, that must be dreadful for you, how are you feeling?" But there we are, she loves me really!! And I can understand her being worried, after all if we default on the rent, they are responsible! But we really are NOT going to!
Thanks for the advice, Stroppy - we both know we'll feel so much better after 3rd Nov, it's just getting there! Definitely looking forward to our new, debt free life!
Take care folks, CBx0 -

Good luck CB.
Try not to 'stress' about the 'stress' i was off for a long time with it too.
Going BR and facing upto what i'd done was the lowest point in an extremely 'soap opera' style life.
I could happily go through one or two other hassles again, but i NEVER want to go through the stress of debt, and certainly not the stress of BR again..ever.
Try to think of it as a huge learning curve. And remember, it does get better, loads betterThe first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter0 -
It is a journey and a half BR, people think it is some easy get out, well it is not, it is stressful, and has caused my illness to hit me like a ton of bricks over the past few weeks. I am lucky I have a younger son and my mum here supporting me, as well as my wonderful daughter who lives away from home now.
I sleep badly with the illness but even worse lately with the most awful nightmares of people chasing me, all with horrid faces, like a horror movie.
This site has been invaluable to me as it has to you and so many others, and just keep that in mind about looking forward, that there will be a day not too long away when you can say, THANK god that is all over and get on and start a new life, with no debts hanging over you like atilla the hun. Some Days are Diamonds Some Days are Stones,Sometimes the hard times won't leave meBSC 162:beer:Banktupt 22 Oct 2008 at 10am!0 -
Grats on the dates being set, you will feel a lot better after its over and done with, and if your like most people, wonder why you didnt do it sooner. Chin up and look forward to reading your "We have Done it" thread.
Get that Avatar up chealseabun!!!"Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"
