Can I ask for my P&P back?

I ordered a pair of boots from an internet site a few weeks ago. They were pictured as dark chocolate brown. I paid £60 for the boots, plus another £6.70 P&P.
When they arrived, they were a gingery tan colour, and did not match the outfit I had bought them to go with.
I emailed the company twice, and received no reply. As time was going on (amy unwanted goods were supposed to be returned within two weeks), I eventually sent the boots back, at my own expense, and enclosed a letter explaining the problem, and asking for a refund of £60 for the boots, plus £11 for original p&p and the cost to return them.
I received an email from the company on Monday, refunding the cost of the boots, but making no reference to the P&P costs. This means my request has now been ignored three times.
Any advice what to do?

Contact your local trading standards office. Since the product was not as advertised I believe you are entitled to a full refund included both of the P&P costs.
  • Enter your post code at the top of the page to find your nearest Trading

As the goods did not conform to contract (i.e. they were mis-described), you are entitled to a full refund, and that includes the original p+p charge.

Unfortunately, you sent the boots back at your own expense. You are not automatically entitled to recover this cost. You could try to claim for compensation, but a court will only entertain the actual cost of postage & packaging incurred, not any extra for your time or inconvenience. The cost must also be reasonable.

Normally in situations like this, I just inform the supplier that I have rejected the goods, require an immediate refund and request their return instructions including their written acceptance of any costs incurred before I actually incur them. Alternatively, I give them notice allowing them 21 days to arrange collection of the goods from me at their expense, otherwise the goods will be disposed of.

In the circumstances, I would ask them again for the full £11 and see what they say. If they refuse totally, and you paid by credit card, contact your c.c. company who may agree to a chargeback equal to the original p+p of £6.70.

Speak to Boots.com team and explain nicely to them, don't mention Trading Standarts. Boots is usualy very good, specialy with refunds. You must had receipt from boots.com with your order. At the bottom it must have return slip. If you have not used it, they might not refund you this fee. But they had to refund your total order price. Explain them and they should sort you out.

It's an old one and not that funny!

    OK...

I went into the chemist the other day, approached the counter and asked if they sold condoms. The pharmacist replied that they didn't, and asked if I'd tried boots.

I said "I wanna make love to her, not kick her head in!" :)
