What horrible news - poor you. It must be a real shock.
  • Sadly I fear this will be the story for a lot of people, what is your job???

Can't understand what is going on at the moment my hubby is in retail, design and selling of bathrooms and the shop is still very busy with people choosing to "do up" their house rather than sell but where is the money coming from?

Don't get me wrong I want hubby to stay in a job but is there a money tree some where?

If you can make it cheaper do so. If it's not reduced, in Primark, off ebay or free I can't have it

    Hi

Sorry to hear that you're going on to short time. It's not easy for anyone at the moment. :grouphug:

Does anyone know whether it is possible to claim anythng if you're put on short time? I don't know but I'm sure someone might be able to tell you.

    :grouphug: again

Sorry to hear this - make sure you find out what the situation is (what days you'll be working etc) and then maybe start looking for another part-time job to bump up your income.

I'd do a post on the benefits board with details of hours and salary etc or have a look at www.entitledto.co.uk
I think some companies are going to feel the squeeze but overall - no I don't think it'll be as bad as we might fear... As mentioned travel agents are still busy, DIY shops etc are seeing a RISE in business, a friend of ours is a thatcher and finding himself already booked into the new year mainly with patch jobs as people choose to remain in their current homes rather than risk moving.
Yes estate agents will no doubt suffer as house sales drop and I suspect will do so for a while yet - but over all I think most companies will be ok... Unless they are already teetering on the brink...
