Saving for the first time

Even though my current employment is not so secure (probably finishing up early new year), I've decided to start saving. But one thing I'm not sure about is the amount of funds I leave in my current account at all times - I don't have many expenses for the month so should I just lump most of what's in my current account into the new savings account? Or should I always have a little bit left over in my current account just in case? I'm hoping to save 70% of my income each month but I'm not even sure if I need that other 30% for each month...
Thanks in advance.

I don't leave much in my current account - I use it for paying bills/food shopping. My wages go into this account also. Anything thats left over, or that I think I wont need goes into my savings account as it will gain more interest rather than sitting around in my current account.
Hope thats helps.0 -
if you get an instant access savings, you would be able to transfer back and forth as u would need to. i usually keep about £100 in my current account at all times incase there are any payments i forget that are going to go thru to avoid going overdrawn.0
