Hiya, hope I'm posting in the right place. I am looking to find out which is a good company to get my sky system covered for callouts etc, thanks in advance : )

I'd think very carefully before taking any cover out.
The offers I've seen typically want £80-100 per year cover. Sky will charge you £65 to cover parts+labour per call out. How many times a year do you think your Sky box will break down, especially given each call-out is guaranteed for 3 months IIRC? And the threat of cancellation often gives you a discounted/free callout.
The only benefits of a third-party company is that they may be quicker to come out to you, and they may give you a loan box (though Sky will usually bring a box with them ready to replace permanently).
Also bear in mind that there's been several cases I know of where these companies go out of business, rendering any cover worthless.0 -

None of them. Sky charge £65 for a callout and that covers everything. Even if a complete re-installation with all new gear is required, it's £65. I've had Sky since 1998. I got Sky + the first year it came out. The total number of times I've had a problem? ONE. And that was a dead hard drive on the Sky+ box after 4 years of use so I put in a new one. So in the total time I've had Sky, the total repair bill has been £30. Now compare that to the cost of "service cover" for 10 years.0 -
I've had loadsa problems with this box though and was just worried incase it packed in on me, I don't know what to do : s0

I would call Sky and pay £49 for a replacement Digibox and 1 year's guarantee. If it goes after that year then there is a flat fee of £65 which is sometimes waived if you are "leaving" ...0

Just lately i`ve had a few comps ringing me up offering me ins for my sky+ box, its getting on my nerves.0

My sky+ box has packed up twice since i had it - and I was one of the first early adopters.
Both times i have threatened to cancel my sky subscription and go to a free service if they didn't fix my box for free - after all if the box doesn't work I can't watch sky can i... both times they caved in and sent an engineer for free - again both times he installed brand new equipment straight out of the box...
After all if they don't replace my box i'd be £500 better off without sky (My monthly subscription X 12)
