Ahh just one more thing, Is Sygate still relevant, and is Kerio better than ZA.

Personally I prefer Kerio. v2.15 was great, very light and did what it needed it. The latest version, v4.22 is still good but a little more bloated. Still, not so much as Zone Alarm though.

I haven't tried Sygate so can't comment there.

I still think you'd be ok with one anti-spyware app. Counterspy is one of the better ones (Spyware Doctor is another top one). Spybot and AdAware aren't quite what they used to be, more of an average choice these days.

If you've got a decent software firewall, hardware firewall (ie router), decent av (ie avg or nod32), counterspy, use a decent browser (firefox or opera), then you should be fine.

If you've got money to spend, look into buying Acronis True Image. I setup the perfect Windows install, then take an image of it. Means I've always got something that's clean to fall back on. I also use it to do incremental updates.

Glad to hear your computer is running faster again... sometimes you don't realise you have so many programs running in the background...
