Where would be a safe place to invest £100,000 for my kids?

    on a more serious note, you could sort out some cash isa's and trusts in the kids name if the money will purely be for them

    Sounds like you want child trust funds put into savings accounts then. Click here for details.

    However bear in mind that if you are saving for a long period of time some element of investment (which also means risk) will give better returns, even with the occasional stock market crash. Perhaps start with savings and drip feed into investments?

    EDIT: Before going for a CTF make sure you understand what it involves. You won't have access to the money, just your kids when they are older, but it is likely to give a tax advantage. Details here.

    EDIT 2: Actually what am I talking about? As you are talking about a lump sum it is too big to put into a CTF all in one go.
