A Day out in London

Can anyone advise me on the best value tickets to purchase for a day out in London.
Usually I buy a one day travel card at £27.50 but just wanted to see if there's a cheaper way.
I'm travelling from Northampton on a weekday after 10am to London to do a bit of sightseeing so will need to use the underground.
Thanks

I think your fare is reasonable. I don't think you will anything much cheaper. Single fares on the tube are £4.00.Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. - Proust0
