in Credit cards
Hi everyone
I wonder if anyone can help me with some information that i keep hearing about.
There are companies out there saying that they can reclaim loans/credit cards that you have had or still have back in full because the agreements on which they were sold were unlawful!!
Ive looked into four companies so far and all but one want to charge you a up front fee for doing the claiming! The one company in question say that they don't charge you anything because they say that they claim from the bank if they win the case. However this particular company only claim on loans not credit cards! One website even has a BBC article with a guy cracking open a bottle of Champagne because he supposedly got £36,000 back because of of this loophole.
I am wandering if there is any truth in it and thought that this site would have probably had a discussion about it by now, and indeed the site would even have a section about it if it was legit. I have looked for one but cant find anything.
Can any of you guys spread any light on this, or send me a link please?
Thanks in advance

You obviously weren't looking properly - about once a week always come someone who is trying to get out of the debt he/she made by overspending without paying the money back.
This is Moneysaving website, not ripping off website. And that is pretty much the view of many people here.0 -
Pay off your debts........................................ you borrowed it, pay it back!

Well, what a nice warm welcome that was!!
Firstly, DO NOT presume that you know anything about me or why i am asking the question because you don't!!
I went Bankrupt two years ago and very nearly lost my house because of it, i have the discharge notice in the cabinet draw next to me if anyone would like me to send a copy to them!!
I currently do not owe anyone a single penny and would never ever borrow again, ive learnt from my mistakes!!
Now, i will tell you why i am asking the question, i know a very vulnerable lady that has been left high and dry in debt by her ex partner who left her. She is looking in to doing this and i must say i feel that it may well be a scam, but this lady is willing to pay some organisation nearly £2000 to do this rather than face Bankruptcy.
I think that she is making a mistake and i have told her that i would do some investigating for her as i have said, she is very vulnerable.
Well anyway, thanks for your help, i obviously came to the wrong place, i hope you two are not the meet and greeters!!
Please try not to be so judgmental next time, that next person may actually really need your help!!0 -
Well whatever you do, tell her not to pay some company £2000 to do this......
I personally think that these are scams, but there are some stories of debts being written off if the lender cannot produce a valid, signed credit agreement.
About once a week people come here asking the same type of question, and it gets tedious. If your friend needs help getting out of debt, go and post in the debt free wannabe board, they are much more fluffy (and helpful with things like this) there.
I still stand by it though, if you borrow, you should pay it back. If she didn't borrow the money, then she shouldn't have to pay it back, but if she took money out in someone else's name that's her responsibility and bad luck that things broke up.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 784 - Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -

I am sorry to hear this, but what do you expect as an answer???
The only people paying for this will be people that are paying their debts off - in higher interest that the banks will imply to make up for their losses!
You say don't judge book by it's cover, I say as long as I am paying for it I can.
How did this happen to her anyway? Cannot be there any legal paths to take? Did he forge her signatures?0
