i am going to connect two computers using wireless usb adaptors so that i can acess files and switch them between the two.
i would like to buy the cheapest ones.
is it worth spending a bit more on these or will i be fine with the cheapest i can find - around £15 each?

Check out this link and read the spec for yourself and download the User manual / Quick guide before you buy. Most of these utilise the same chip-sets anyway.

    Hi,

I have bought two Safecom branded usb 802.11g network adapters.
One from http://aria.co.uk when it was on 'special' for £9.95 but they then add vat and delivery of £6.95 plus vat!
The other I bought from http://ebuyer.co.uk and it was less than £12 delivered.
They were identical and I am pleased with both. I have not used them in the manner you describe since I connect to a Linksys adsl modem router but they are configurable for adhoc peer to peer connection. With the more well known brands like Cisco, Belkin, Netgear you may get better support if you have any problems but I doubt it.

  • Like all these things, the actual cost of the constituent parts is tiny compared with assembly, packaging and support costs. A known brand will tend to have better quality control and support, but if you're lucky you won't need them.

So, as Clint would say, "Are you feeling lucky, punk?" ;)
