dfs furniture - very poor leather suite - even poorer service

I just received my 3 piece suite from DFS last week. It is covered in scratches and wart. I have found cuts which they are trying to palm me off with the excuse that they are scars and I also have a bubblewrap imprint on the arm of my settee. DFS seem to think that this is acceptable. The after sales service has been non existent. The regional manager said that he had phoned me on the Thursday night at 4.55pm but my phone was engaged. That is a blatant lie as I live on my own and at the time he "apparently phoned me" I was actually at my mothers waiting for him to ring my mobile as agreed with the store on the Wednesday. The regional manager didnt like me telling him that he couldnt possibly have phoned and find it engaged and has said he wont do anything at all about my problem. I have got Consumer Direct involved and the financial ombudsman involved. If I have to I will get the papers involved and do what ever I have to until this is resolved I'm not going to go away so Mr DFS if you are reading this message BEWARE. My sympathy to everyone who have suffered at this companies hands as it is disgusting to think that hard working people are being treated like dirt and with no respect0

DFS have been really good to me. My 3-piece is over 2.5 years old. It developed a stain, which DFS couldn't remove after numerous attempts. I spoke politely to the store, then escalated politely to their OPs Manager and CEO and hey presto, they have offered me a brand new and free replacement. I have also got an additional 5 years leather cover contract.
Delighted and very pleased with my result and with with DFS. Pleasantly surprised !:j:j:)0 -

Wouldn't it be funny if all the spam screening systems added the word "marcus" to their filter list! :rotfl:0 -

The interest free credit over 4 years must be a big chunk of the price of anything from DFS....
I know a bloke who imports furniture, it used to be all from Italy, now it's Chinese, apparantly people just want cheepo stuff, nobody will pay for quality...
We wanted quality, our first sofa was from DFS and was great! We went to many furniture stores and found that prices were similar. A leather sofa for £2000 is quite a large sum of money for most people, £3000 + for a suite, a lot of money. Yes people are tightening their belts and want to save where they can, but we still expect quality and do not expect to receive faulty goods at that price.
If you wanted really cheap furniture you could shop on eBay, directly through a small business and the quality wouldn't be great, it would be cheaper though.
I don't think it is unreasonable to want to get 8-10 years out of a suite, we have had our sofa for a few weeks and it is abysmal. We most certainly didn't get what we paid for.
People who want something for nothing do not pay in the thousands of pounds for items, they buy from auction sites and second hand store etc... Those who pay for furniture at DFS are expecting quality and most don't get it.
Everyone who has a bad experience with DFS need to put it in writing and keep letting others know what they could be in for. Once you buy, allow them to fix and fix and fix, you are stuck with what feels like a second hand faulty piece of tat, that is not worth your hard earned cash.0 -
The day the sale ended, the sofa we had purchased and were waiting for disappeared from the showroom. I think it was DFS spontaneous-sofa-combustion… it was over 10 weeks old you see.
Just like Mission Impossible:- This sofa will self destruct in the time it takes you to send four letters of complaint to DFS, by then no one will actually know what it was meant to look like.
