Can I close my instant access KE account and keep my KE fixed account?

I know that you could only open a KE fixed account if you had a instant access savings account. Do I need to keep my instant access open to keep my fixed account? I understand any current T&C are subject to change due to the ING "takeover".
Thanks for any advice.

If you hold a Savings Account but not a Fixed Term Deposit Account, the required minimum balance on the Savings Account is £1. However, if you hold a Savings Account and a Fixed Term Deposit Account, there is no minimum balance for the Savings Account.0 -
I transferred most to a fixed and withdrew the rest - you do not need to close the account - it sits there with zero balance - I think the account is needed because when the fix ends the balance transfers to the saving account.0

Yes, quite right.
In fact, at least on the older accounts, fixed term bonds maturing are shown as future credits (plus interest) in the pending transactions list.
I've had my standard account at zero balance for quite some time now, no problems.0 -
