Missing RAF Personnel Details - more info?

Options
Hi all,

A colleague of mine was in the RAF and her husband still is. We were talking the other day about the RAF records which went missing at the end of September (three USB hard drives stolen, I think it was). Apparently her husband was told there is an address to write to to find out if his details were on those hard drives - current serving members got an immediate answer but ex-members have to wait up to six weeks to find out. She'd just found out her husband's details were on it, and is now waiting to find out if hers are too.

My partner was in the RAF until 1998, and my colleague seems to think it is details of serving members in 1993 whose details are on the drives, which would possibly mean my partner's are on there too.

Does anyone know anything about this and know the address to write to for more info?

I say "apparently" as she does have a "us and them" attitude to the RAF and civi street (despite being out of it for over four years already) and does try to blind us civi's with RAF jargon so some of it could have been 'embelished' shall we say for effect

Many thanks for any assistance!

Why not just ask your friend's husband to get the address for you?

I don't think publicising MOD addresses unnecessarily on a public website is a great idea.

    Hi,

The link below (which is in the public domain) contains a phone number and e-mail addy to enquire if your details are amongst those missing:

  • This makes me laugh..

When some data went missing last year, I phoned the number I was given and was told they couldnt tell me what information of mine was on there UNLESS I sent a copy of:

    My driving License
    My Passport
A Utility Bill with my address on
    A Bank statement

Fun..so, to find out what information of mine you have LOST, you want me to provide it again? No chance.

I eventually got them to tell me if my NOKs addys were there..and they were, that was my greatest concern, and I phoned around banks etc to let them know what had happened and so they could keep an eye out for unusual activity.

I hope you have better luck than me, however :)

    Many thanks for your assistance.

Incapuppy - sorry, I knew I'd missed something I meant to say. Said colleague was called down south with a family emergency yesterday afternoon and I don't know when she will be back in. I just thought I would ask here whilst I remembered last night :)
