what digital SLR camera to get from USA?

Go for Canon EOS as they carry international warranty. All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy.0

Been using Canon DSLRs since they were invented and never had any serious problems with dust on the sensor, if you are changing lenses constantly outside or in dusty environments then it may be a problem, but in normal usage it's not a serious issue, most modern cameras have anti-dust / shake removal systems and many advanced models have dust mapping and removal. It's a non-issue for me.
As Sun mentions many quality brands have full international warranties too, just check before you buy.0 -
If you're novice check out the Fujifilm S9600. It's has SLR functionality but with a fixed lense and it keeps the price way down! You can get these for about £180 new in the UK now, so the US price should be tasty.
Check out the review on trustedreviews.comCurrent mortgage remaining £167,200 as at 3rd March 09:eek:0 -
thank you guys for all replies...i am actually a novice and not an experienced photographer and thats why i was looking for advice....i might have to change my plans after reading your comments
Stick with the dSLR anything else is just a compramise and you will forever wish you had the dSLR, every time you take a picture of the back wing of a F1 car cause of shutter lag. Cant get a photo in the dark casue the ISO won't go low enough, etc etc.
Only look at Cannon and Nikon, I am a Nikon user so no very little about Cannon. You don't give and indcation of your budget.
But I would recomend the D90 with 18 - 200 Vr Lens dust wont be a problem cause you will never need to take the lens off. Amanzon UK price £1080 It does HD movies aswell!
Too much then go for a D40 with 18 - 55 £2500 -
MX5huggy, some of the things you say may have been true a few years ago but things have changed a lot with compact cameras. I have a Fuji compact camera that cost £70 that has a higher ISO than my Nikon dSLR. Good quality compact/bridge cameras also come with image stabilisation, some even come with APS-C size sensors as found in dSLRs.
In the end it's horses for courses, if you're not going to use the features of a dSLR then why buy one? I know of a couple of people wanting to switch from dSLR to a good bridge camera! Basically they found they always use auto or pre-set modes, they never change the lens, they find live-view a better than using a viewfinder and they find a dSLR too bulky.
My advice in the end is always to go to a local camera store and have a play with the different types of camera there and see what you like."One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. Everybody is in a hurry now and there is a 'the rules don't apply to me' sort of thing." - Bill Bryson0 -
Only look at Cannon and Nikon
This old chestnut always comes up on these threads, but most entry level dSLRs are far, far more capable than the majority of photographers will ever be.
That aside, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax, Sony and others have excellent dSLR cameras out there, some nearly as good, some as good and many better than the equivalent offerings from Canon and Nikon. Don't rule out most of the field before you do your research. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

there was a major development in the last 24 hours....currys at junction 9 of M6 (in west Midlands) had a major reopening sale yesterday (it will last till sunday) which led to motorway closure at the rush hour yesterday morning...i went in the evening and i managed to buy a canon EOS D450 for £329.99 and i will be able to claim £50 in cashback from canon making the final price £280...i thought that was an excellent deal considering that this very popular camera normally sells at £480.0
