New kitchen

Hello

looking to install a new kitchen... The usual ones (MFI, Magnet, Moben) are in a state of permanent sales seasons. Having read some of the feedback not convinced wish to deal with them anyway.

Looked at John Lewis kitchens and they are nice! Any clues as to who the manufacturers are to buy direct from or whether JL has Christmas sales on their kitchen ranges, as prepared to wait. thanks!!

John Lewis kitchens are made by a company called Mereway. They don't sell direct to the public.

However, one of the John Lewis ranges is also called "Cucina Colore" and that is sold by independent kitchen companies who should almost certainly be able to get you a better price. Mereway do two other ranges at least which might also be sold by John Lewis.

I only know about it because my kitchen is a John Lewis one used for a photshoot and I did a lot of research on them to make sure it was right - I got it for £500 off ebay. :TSorry, can't resist bragging! It is absolutely superb. Very heavy indeed with real quality fitttings. I love my mid height larder units - they're so practical and also the drawers - I'd have absolutely no base units as cupboards in given the choice. There is loads of room and you can see everything because you're pulling the drawer out - you'll get more in a smaller kitchen with drawers, no lie.

We bought some bits from Howdens for our utility area and it really pales in comparison.

I've still got some JL wall units left over in the garage to go on ebay, lol!
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
  • icon10.gif Well done and thanks for the info! The range I liked is called Wentworth in the world outside JL store.

And there are quite a few Wentworth studios from what I can see. Any experience, cost comparison to John Lewis's?

Check Howdens, if you know someone in the trade that is.
My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.
  • Which particular kitchen?

Crown Imperial have a similar looking cream shaker that I have my eye on which, with any luck, I will be agreeing design & ordering in a few weeks.... supply & installation via a small local company.

I'm the world's most cynical customer and I've just done something I've never done before. I've told a company that their service is fantastic before I have even received the goods.

If you are prepared to buy online look at diy-kitchens.com. For the kitchens they offer they had the best prices on the basis of the research I did. They've got a big range of all the styles you'd expect. You can get sample doors refundable against the price of the kitchen and, despite buying online, you get the sort of personal service you'd expect from a small local company. And believe me I've tried their patience by changing my mind and adding to my order after purchase. After putting in an order online, a very nice real person calls to talk through it to ensure you've not made any mistakes in your order.

I could be disappointed when it comes to delivery but thus far it is fab.
