Broadband connection lost with filters

I have BT broadband basic, used via a BT broadband filters on all phones in house.

I have noticed that on some incoming phonecalls it causes my connection to be dropped. I changed the filter with another BT one, and it still happening.

Anyone got any advice on what could be the cause?

It could be the filters are on the wrong phones. I had this problem and had to go right back to the installation of broadband. I am with Wannado and used their help pages to put the filters in the right places.

    so many potential problems

I went thro the splitters - just discount everything esle, and put broadband thro' the main box and see if that helps

Dect phones..... I was told that as well, but made no difference in my case

Finally a BT engineer came out , and confirmed problem in line , was told I should never have been given 1meg as would work with less errors on 1/2 meg , given distance to exghange/ quality of lines

Neighbour ( uses same pole) got 2meg no problems !

BT swapped over a few lines , and now it better

yes have dect phones via a filter.

I cannot route my broadband direct to mains box due to locations etc.

I am using BT quality filters, tried cheap ones in the past that seemed to fail after some many months.

Its 2Meg broadband. It only happens on certian incoming calls. no problems with outgoing, so presume its the incoming line signal thats causing the fault (?).

problem if i ask BT to send someone out they will charge a big bill.

    thanks anyway for the replies
  • I have the same problem and BT haven't been able to fix it. It's also weather dependent (i.e. it's now chucking down with rain and I have problems connecting/staying connected). One of BTs answers was/is, that the standard modem isn't right for us, and I need to buy a different one ...
