satellite tv northern ireland

hi people i was just wondering if anyone knows anything about the motorised satellite tv in northern ireland which picks up channels from around the world, was with sky tv for 9 years and my account was overdue by 1 day and they turned it off and ended up staying on the phone for over 45 mins, not only that but they charged an extra £4 for sending out a letter, thwn tried to make me feel guilty when was canceling it by saying your losing out on 9 years, only people who will be losing out r them on nearly £450 a year. any advise on anything buy sky would be greatly appreciated :) i can't get virgin media by the way.

I take it you are not happy with the selection of channels you now have on your unsubscribed box?

What is your freeview signal like, could that suffice?

I havn't had a motorised dish, but am wondering which channels you are wanting to get with it?

    Cheers, Des.

hey des it's only the football i'd watch, so paying £37 just to watch a few matches each month i dunno if it's worth it, but the way they got on today just put me right of sky, threating court action and all if i didn't pay for the 30 days notice, and the way i was only 1 day overdue and they knocked all the channels off after being with them for over 9 years, let this be a warning to anyone who has sky also. i can't really get free view either where i am, and the channels i'd be hoping to get on the motorised dish would be the football :)

I have a motorised dish, It picks up from 30w - 42e, Dish and motor cost £60 and receiver £70, Under £200 for everything and installed myself, In the line of football every match is covered somewhere or other, its handy for the 3pm kick offs, What exactly do you want to know?

Ah, motorised satellite systems, one of the things i do for a living!!Yes if you want cheap and cheerful go to Ebay....... but!a couple of things for us here in N.I., you need a minimum of a 1.1 mtr Dish so you don`t loose the weaker channels in the rain, you need a heavy duty diseqc Motor so as to withstand the elements. You need it set up properly to track the arc with a decent meter and not a 20 quid `bleeper` for Sky! I would also recommend a Patio Mount or Ground Stand as opposed to pitching the lot twenty feet up on a wall.I sell mostly Hi-Def receivers with hard drive for motorised setups now, pricey but it`s the way forward.
