Internet Explrer Freezing

My computer is running XP Pro with IE7 installed and just recently IE works ok for a few minutes after being booted up then it freezes until I reboot again.
Can anyone please help me how I can correct this?

Could be a problem like a virus
Download malwarebytes , update it then fully scan it , (quick scan if you like)
