The Ironbridge Gorge Museum is excellent. There are several sites, including the bridge itself, various industrial heritage places, and Blists Hill village as the centrepiece. When we went, a few years ago, there was a combined passport ticket to get in all the venues.

West Midlands Safari Park is good too, wouldn't personally bother with the zoo, it's on our doorstep and we don't, there's hardly any animals there!
Plenty of farms too, depends whereabout you're staying.0 -

If you are in that area, the Black Country Museum is a much better day out.

Second the black country museum wonderful day out! Never been before but went around 3 weeks ago. Very interesting and its great the way they have the "locals" all dressed up and in character complete with black country accent.
You must must try the fish and chips, they are wonderful. We queued for TWO HOURS!!!!! but you know it was worth it.:o
They also have an old fashioned sweet shop, a mine, a school, a funfair and there is the "new" working mans academy.
Prices aren't too bad either once inside. Keep a look out in the Wolves/B'ham local papers, they often have vouchers buy one get one free. But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more0 -

Enginuity is a children's interactive science museum and is part of the Ironbridge Gorge museums.
A walk up the Wrekin (local hill) is quite nice for a picnic if the weather is good. Again, free."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0 -
