More Than car insurance -- be careful!

If you decide to take out motor insurance with More Than, make sure you keep a copy of your previous renewal notice that states how many years NCB you are entitled to, as there's a strong chance that More Than won't retain this information!
I'm approaching the end of my current year's motor insurance with More Than and have chosen not to renew with them.
I've arranged alternative insurance and I need to send proof of my no claims.
However, on phoning More Than to get a letter confirming my 9 years' no claims, I was told that the evidence of No Claims I submitted when I joined, has been destroyed, and they are only able to confirm I've got 'at least five years' NCB. This is, apparently, their policy.
This means that they're only able to issue a statement saying that I've got 'at least 5 years' no claims. My new insurer wants proof that I've got the 9 years I say I have.
Luckily I have my previous policy details so I can prove that on joining More Than, I already had 8 years. However, I've still had to expend quite a bit of effort phoning around and arguing my case. As far as I'm concerned, More Than have an obligation to retain this information for their customers.

Ive noticed these online quotes grabbers tend to limit the ncd to 5 years, why is that ?
maybe they are confused or less than capable

Because most insurers don't recognise more than 4 or 5 years' NCD, that's why.0
