whats the hard foam typre sheets coated either side with aluminium type metal sheet? (poor description i know) Would this be best for the actual bits that meet in the middle (dont know what its called, where the roof meets at the top). was going to sprinkle vermiculite on the floor/bedroom ceilings once i've sorted what lights i want in the bedrooms.
hope that made sense!!

The foam stuff with aluminium sheets is called Kingspan. When I last bought it from a builder merchant it was £44 for 11 sheets.0

rigid board foam
which is made by either:
celotex (invented it)
kingspan
xtratherm (cheapest on mareket from builders merchants)0 -
All sorts of grants available.....http://www.est.org.uk/.................also try...http://www.clear-skies.org/................I have some Celotex....can I insulate a wall with it...just stick it on the plaster, then wallpaper over.????0

If you mean the plasterboard-backed stuff, I think to be compliant with building regs, it needs to have regular rigid fixings too. The idea is that in a fire the rigid fixings keep it on the wall. Whether or not you choose to comply...
In my experience, grants are either limited to low-income families, elderly people, or things which are installed professionally at vastly inflated prices. They aren't much good to the average DIYer.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
If you buy kingspan or any variant of it, make sure you wear a dust mask, it's not that nice a stuff to work with.0

Have a look at this site for a bit of info

Hmm - I had to read the whole thread again to work out what you are going on about. I presume you mean the underside of the tiles/slates?
Don't insulate these at all. Insulate the loft floor properly, but ensure that there is plenty of ventilation into the roof space round the eaves (the perimeter), if you have felt under the tiles. Because you need a lot of ventilation to protect the timbers, it will be pointless insulating under the tiles - all the heat will blow out anyway.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0
