TV breakdown insurance

Our family has clubbed togther to buy an all in one combined tv, dvd player and video recorder for our elderly mother.

Its a lot of kit in one package and something could easily go wrong in the future.

Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced breakdown insurance company to give us cover for 4 years after the warranty expires?

Have you ACTUALLY bought it yet - 'cos John Lewis offer 5 year guarantees included on TV's & price match, too.

& if you use a Nationwide Cashback credit card, you'll get an extra years cover, after the makers one runs out - cashback too!! - Use the link from Martins site, so he gets the tiny benefit, to help keep things running!!

Otherwise, the BEST policy is to put whatever the monthly premium is, into a savings account & keep it yourselves - probably never need it!! If it's going wrong, it'll be right away. or a couple of years along, when prices are lower & technology has changed, outdating your equipment!!

https://www.warrantydirect.co.uk are able to offer you cover if you REALLY want it!!

Great advice - unfortunately as its been a clubbing together I havent been able to actually buy it myself. I have a NW card already and could have used that for the extra years cover.
Because of the specialised nature of the kit the only supplier was Amazon and it is due to arrive next week.

The pot of money to do repairs is a good idea but will not cover us for mechanical failure of the DVD and Tape player as its almost certain that they will not be able to get parts to repair it in a years time. At least the Insurance will provide a replacement set in that case.

    Thanks

Yes - it was the Toshiba - nobody had it in stock except Amazon.

Its got so many mechanical features its unlikely to last as long as a standard telly.
