Leeds to Manchester train help

Hi

Can anybody help me out with some advice and pointers please.
I am travelling from Ireland to Leeds airport next week Tuesday 21st October , and need to get a train from Leeds train station to Manchester around 12noon for 1 adult + 1 child age 8 one way .

Where is the best site to buy tickets in advance and make some savings.
I am unfamilar with the Uk train system and have tried national rail etc.

Any help greatly appreciated on point me to the best option

Many thanks

www.nationalrail.co.uk saw me at £16 for a day return Manchester - Leeds - Manchester last wednesday. Work paid for it but still a bargain... and it's only a 55min journey

    Try www.thetrainline.com

If you can, aim for one of the 'airport' express trains which run down from Newcastle I think, calling at Leeds, (Dewsbury I think) and Huddersfield and then Manchester Piccadilly - a much quicker service than some of the other trains which stop all the time.

thetrainline.com has fees associated with it - bad advice. Nothing wrong with nationalrail.co.uk.

Get any train operated by Transpennine Express, make sure it is going to the Airport though and not Liverpool or Manchester Piccadilly - although if you get either of those, there are dozens of trains from Manchester Piccadilly each hour to the Airport.

£7.50 for yourself and the child combined with an advance single ticket!
Bargain - you can pick the tickets up from a machine at Leeds station.
  • Yup, Pay on the train.

Or in our case pay nothing.:j

Travelled from Leeds - Manchester Airport and no conductor came round.:j

On some trains they don't bother asking for tickets.

Managed to get 1 adult + 1 child single from Leeds to Manchester for 10.50
    Good saving, thanks

I now pray my flight from Dublin to Leeds airport is on time and my taxi gets me to the train station for the 11.55 train.
