Problem with external lights on Toyota motorhome

Some of the lights on my friends motorhome have just stopped working. This includes all of the top lights both front and back, and the back nearside sidelights. We've checked the fuses and the bulbs and can't find any to have blown. The bulb holders are all brand new at the back so don't think it can be that as a general problem. Can anyone shed any light (excuse the pun) on this for us before we call in the auto-electrician experts.

Here's hoping! Thanks.

  • Get a multimeter and with the switch in the 'on' position for the lights, test for voltage at the fuse terminals.

Thanks, I have PM'ed you to check what I need to buy. Will the instruction book tell me what I am looking for or are you able to help further?
  • On any multimeter just select VDC at an appropriate scale (12V is what you're looking for so anything above that - ie 25V scale).

If there is no voltage at the fuse terminals then you can begin to track down the fault. The stage after that would be testing for voltages at the switch.
