I've just applied for an Egg Money card online, which is going to be paying me 4% on positive balances. When I applied I gave my 2 month old LTSB account as the current account. Would I have been better of using my 15 year old Barclays account? That might sound stupid, but I don't use the Barclays account for anything anymore, so don't want to use it in new applications. However, if it makes a big difference to applications then I could use it.
In a moment of keeness I then went over to LTSB where I have a premier online account and started filling in the application for a credit card. I got as far as the final screen and it then asked whether I wanted to do a balance transfer. It occured to me that it'd be better if I get the Egg account set up ready and then put in a balance transfer request when I apply for the LTSB card.
I've read that the value placed in there can influence the credit limit given.
What would be a reasonable request? £4K? £5K? My old FDirect Visa only had a 2.5K limit on it, though I think they offered me more at one time.

I believe that generally it is better to use older account in this cases. Only when I applied for a new Lloyds TSB credit card I thougt it was beteer to use my 2 years-old account with them.tomstickland wrote:.. There are different (opposing) opinions regarding this. I think nobody can tell you for sure.I've read that the value placed in there can influence the credit limit given.0 -
Good news is that the application has gone through fine. I phoned them up today to check.
My LTSB platinum card has also been accepted, so it looks like I'm ready to get stoozing just before Christmas.Happy chappy0
