Venue help - PLEASE!

Hi all, I’m hoping that some of you can help me… I’m usually quite a calm person but due to the stress of trying to pick a wedding venue I have taken to chewing the inside of my bottom lip  . I am starting to panic as we haven’t booked a venue for our wedding next April which is only 6 months away.
We have already been to see 9 possible venues and have discounted numerous others without seeing them. 3 of the venues I would potentially be happy with (Sutton Bonington Hall, Leicestershire, Chace Hotel, Coventry and Draycote Hotel, near Rugby) but h2b doesn’t think we have found THE ONE. He is quite in touch with his feminine side and is having as much input into wedding planning as I am - I thought I was hard to please but he is impossible!
We live in Warwickshire and would consider anywhere in the Midlands. Places with good access to the M1 as it goes North would also be good as we have family in Cleethorpes and Sheffield as well as in Warwickshire. We are looking for somewhere where we can have both the ceremony and the wedding breakfast and preferably somewhere that has accommodation. We don’t want a huge place as we don’t like the idea of someone else’s wedding going on at the same time. We like old buildings with character and nice gardens but we cannot afford to pay the earth. We would like to come in at under £3k for venue hire, food and drink for 37 people (not including evening do as we haven’t decided whether we want one of these).
Does anyone have any suggestions, recommendations or ideas? Please help because I know that once we have sorted the venue I will be able to relax a little.
Or am I asking for too much?

Hiya
I struggled with finding venues at first but then i took the route of finding out where had civil ceremony licences and then looked online at the ones which appealed.
have a look at government websites for the areas you are thinking of and they should give you a list
This is the site I used http://www.northyorks.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=6491 . obviously not helpful to your location but it gives you an idea what to search for. I used civil ceremony venue north yorkshire0 -
Try Dodmoor House near Weedon(just out Daventry) and only 15 minutes from the M1..not sure they have much availability for April, but they may have, or maybe have Fridays if you fancy that.

My partner and were looking at as we didn't want the whole hotel thing and thought it was fantastic but in the end went completely different and are getting married at Hartington Hall
Mortgage when started: £127,500
Current mortgage Jan2016: £127500
Mortgage free day: Dec 2022
OverPaid so far; £00 -
Do you have a copy of the West Midlands wedding white pages? I will have a look through once I have eaten and reply with some suggestions again.0

We're also struggling with venues. We have been looking for a nice country style pub but can't find one with a large enough function room (we need to seat about 45, I have a laarge family!).
Not intending to highjack this thread, but we've also looked at a country manor/hall type venue but are not sure on the bar issue. Does anyone know whether they would be very expensive drinks wise?
k4kate, try not to stress too much! I have had to try and calm myself down and everyone says that eventually you will find the one. Hopefully the fab list aimee has posted might help.
Ooops, posted on the OH's logon. This is Alleycat by the way!0 -
Hi Alleycat...I have just added to it again after 'missing' a load of the section in the magazine.
We have hired a Hall/ Manor House type building and the average cost of a bottle of wine is £12 so not too bad I thought. I also haggled and get to bring my own champagne with no corkage charge.0 -

Depending on where you are there is The Coppleridge Inn nr Shaftesbury in Dorset, it has its own 18th Century barn and grounds, licensed for weddings and will seat 80 for a sit down meal.
The Fleece at Bretforton near Evesham also has a barn that it rents out for weddings and other similar events (I only know because I visited the pub during the asparagus season and noticed it).0 -
Hi horace, thanks for the suggestions but we're in West London so a bit too far to travel.0

Prestwold Hall, Loughborough, Leicestershire
Sketchely Grange, Burbage, Hinckley, Leics
Honiley Court Hotel, Honiley, Warks
The Prince Regent II, Grand Union canal, Offchurch, Leamington Spa (yes its a boat)
The Glebe Hotel, Barford, Warks
Sulgrave Manor (less than 15 miles from M1 and M40) https://www.sulgravemanor.org.uk

I have found some pubs that might be suitable although you probably won't be able to get married in them:
Ye Olde Swan at Thames Ditton (right on the river - I love the food here and visit it everytime I go sailing in Shepperton). The pub is huge but am not sure about a function room - they may have one.
http://www.ploughinn.com/ - This pub is old, has a barn for functions and is in Coldharbour, Surrey (about an hour from London).0
