Warrenty advice on oven - help

We had a kitchen from Ikea in February and got a Datid obi f10 built in oven.

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/categories/departments/kitchen/10489/

On Friday I had taken the door off for cleaning (as you can and I had done a couple of times before). This time as I was putting the door back on there was a crack and a piece of plastic flew off the top of the frame. I froze and thought, 'what the hells that' but a second later the outer glass just shattered. Looking at it there is no frame that the glass sits in and once this strip of plastic had lost its rigidity, the whole door lost its integrity and the glass went. I was in shock, because the kitchen is hubby's domain and knew he would not be happy. He was fine; accidents happen but in a fit of pique took what was left of the door to the tip.

With hind sight I think we should have kept it as more I think about it, I think maybe the door was faulty. All we have of the door is a single sheet of inner glass, that’s it.

A new door from whirlpool is £213, the oven cost £275.

Is there any way this can be claimed on the warranty or something as its not even a year old?

Ring them and find out - if they ask for it explain you threw it away because you didn't want broken glass around the house. Ultimately it shouldn't have broken, so should be covered. The Ikea warranty on appliances is for five years.

Wonderful, we've been passed from pillar to post.

Ikea passed us on to Whirlpool who authorised the replacement and passed us on to their authorised people that cover our area, eastern domestics. After much to-ing and fro-ing they now say they cant replace the door because the oven has been discontinued and they cant get the parts. The serial number on our oven says the oven is two years old , which suprised me as I bought it in January and IKea told us they were made to order, obviously not true if this oven has been sat around for 2 years.

Ive never been in this postion before I would appreciate advice on what our
    next moves should be.

Ikea are the retailer, they are responsible for any warranty work required, don't let them fob you off.

If you cannot get any satisfaction from them, contact your Local Tradings Standards.
