My boyfriend has bought a Seat Leon Cupra, and his insurance renewal is obviously going to cost a fair bit! Can anyone recommend an insurance company for this kind of car - are there any specialist insurers out there?

The guys at https://www.seatcupra.net may have some special deals/arrangements setup.
If he is planning to modify it HIC and Adrian Flux are the guys to talk to.

Thanks for that - I hadn't thought about an owners website (I've never had a car I've been proud enough of to bother!) We looked on confused.com and only one company (Norwich Union) have beaten his renewal quote with esure, which isn't actually too shoddy.
He's not planning to modify it - as far as I know!0 -
Hi - try Liverpool Victoria and Direct Line and Privilege as confused do not get quotes from them.0

Try every insurer you can find. Mainstream insurers cover unmodified cars, and the Cupra isn't particularly high risk. I paid £600 3 years ago fully comp with Liverpool Victoria for a 30 yr old in modified car 9 points (all SP30 minor speeding infringements) and 2 minor claims.
LV are renowned for being a bit random on their quotes though!
Adrian Flux can be cheap, but service issues reported if you make a claim.
I used another specialist before that. It's worth checking out the adverts in Autocar / AutoExpress / Evo and also the boy racer mags like Max Power (if you can bring yourself to buy them).Happy chappy0 -
Cheers. We'll give LV a go - he only has one claim that wasn't his fault and no points (But we'll see how long it stays that way with the Cupra!) I don't think Direct Line are worth trying - they wouldn't insure his dad in a Honda Civic Vtech (I think) as it was too high risk.
Esure are quoting £680, Norwich Union about £600. Some of the quotes were up around £2000!0 -
I use its4me.co.uk ,they saved me £ 80 per year on the exact same policy!!0

I agree with Tom....try every ins co you can. Only once have we stayed with the same co for 2 years running. I get the job of phoning round every year for 2 cars and a motorbike and it gets tedious but well worth it. We have got a Focus and more recently splashed out on a Nissan 350Z. I called the insurers we were with at the time and they wanted over £700 just for the Nissan. With a bit of ringing round I got the Nissan down to under £450.
Oh and call the 0800 freephone numbers first:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Use https://www.confused.com
I used them and zurich came out cheapest for me, then went through rpoints.com get £45 cashback.0
