Natwest e-savings: How do I find out my current interest rate?

I just opened a Natwest e-savings account @ 6.5% variable. If they change the rate, will they let me know. Also, is there a way to find out what the current interest rate of my account is? Will it be the same as what the are currently offering on the main site?

Thanks.

  • From their general ts & cs. So, yes as previous post, either 'phone them or check the website for current rates. I'm sure it would be posted on MSE fairly quickly if/when they reduce the rate on this account. I've opened this account too but already have a current account with them so it will be useful to use as a main feeder account.

    "We will pay interest on the daily cleared credit balance in your
    account unless the Account Specific Conditions for your account
    provide otherwise. Interest will be calculated and paid in the
    manner and at the rates set out in our interest rate leaflets,
    which can be obtained from any branch (for branch based
    accounts). You can also call 0800 255 200, look on our website
    www.natwest.com or ask our branch staff.
    4.3.2 Our interest rate leaflets include the following:
    • Personal and Private Banking – A Guide to Fees and Interest;
    • Savings Account Rates;
    • Bond information sheets.
    4.3.3 We will comply with our obligations under the Banking Code to
    notify you of the interest rate applicable to your account."

    Phone them every day to check the interest rate? No, thanks.

    Thanks for posting that oldagetraveller, I'll check the site every now and then. As soon as they drop it, I'll plonk the money in my newly opened 6.3% fixed rate Egg account. ;)

    They do say on the site what the previous rate was, the current rate is also listed in the esavings section.

    They've sent me a letter every time they've changed the interest rate...
    Mmmm, credit crunch. Tasty.

    As I'm sure they will at some stage! No doubt it depends for how long they need to entice and retain funds from depositors?:rolleyes:
