What will my 2 year old sleep in?

Bit of a strange question - when we go on our hols next year our little boy will be two. He is still in his cot at the moment but hopefully will be a bed by the time he is two. What sleeping facilities do you think our hotels in the US will have (if anything), surely a adult bed he might fall off and a crib would be too small. I dont really want him sharing a bed with us, can anyone help?

When over 2 I have found that my children have had their own bed in the room. One of my daughters had to have a bed guard as she was a restless sleeper and would fall out of the bed(other not). I brought a travel bed guard with me to several hotels for my elder daughter. However as items such as that are reasonable in the US it might be best just to purchase a bed guard there and give it away when you are leaving.

    Hi

I'd email the hotel/s and make a specific request, I'm sure they have this sort of thing all the time, and can get a suitable cot for him. By cot, I mean small bed, which is what we usually end up with in hotels for our 11 yr old.

One of the hotels have offered us a cot - does anyone know if this the same size as a cot over here?

Buy a travel cot for $39 at Walmart, if too big then buy a rollaway for even less.

    Hi

If you look in my other post - I said you will get a cot - which is the same size as a small bed.

It will be fine - don't worry. Hotels get this all the time. We say cot - they say crib. When they say cot, they mean small bed.

Just to make things clear for you (we made a mistake years ago)

A crib in the US is the same as a cot here. Same size with sides like ours.

But if you ask for a 'cot' in the USA you will normally but not always get a folding bed which will have no sides and could be a glorified camp bed.

If your child still uses a cot at home ask for a crib. Hotels in the US are very accommodating and will change things for you no problem.
