With this years wipeout for anyone who held onto both their B&B & Halifax de-Mutualisation Shares, can a Capital Gain be offset against a these losses ?

What losses, though? You can't claim a loss just because the shares are worth less than they were before; you can only claim the difference between what you paid and what you sold for, if the latter amount is smaller.0

You paid nothing and you will get nothing.
They will be capital gain neutral - when we get a certificate saying they are worthless.0
