Electric Consumption Problem??
Options
i have just looked at my partners bill and for electric with e-on and something seriously wrong i reckon.
She lives in a 2 bedroom flat with a room and kitchen and bathroom there is only electric no gas.
The e-on website says her bills are saying she is using 24kwh every day bills of £250 per qtr, i lve in a det house and mine is half this?
She is out of the house 4 days per week all day.... and heating is put on very sparingly..
Has anyone got any suggestions on what to do as apart from someone else being hooked up to her electric box i cannot think why this is so much, could e-on come out and investigate this?
All help appreciated...

I think they will check the meter and if faulty, not charge. If it isn't faulty, they charge. There are similar threads on here. Usual advice is:
- check that serial numbers match on bill/statement and meter
- look into whether she's paying for someone else's electricity
- check for faulty heating/immersion heater (most expensive items to run)
- honestly evaluate what is used - it all adds up
Then take daily readings, preferably without heating and immersion. With immersion but not heating. And then with both. Does this tell you anything?
Is there any debt on the account? Are there storage heaters in the flat? Is the immersion heater left on?
It sounds too much for one person in a flat but all-electric is expensive. So many possibilities.0 -
Is the bill based upon actual readings both start and end readings?
How does she heat her water, could the immersion be on for too long?Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -

There are storage heaters in the flat, the switch near the immersion system marked water is switched on all the time, but there is not continous heated water and the heaters are seldom on?0 -
Have a look in maplin. I got a little gadget that you hook around the electric cable between your meter and fuse box and put the display in my front room. It tells me every 6 seconds how many Kw I am using. Surprisingly apart from the heaters the Tele uses alot.
I got http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=220934 am using about 150-200w or 10 units a day when Im out the house (mainly the server running upstairs). you can run round the house and see whats using the juice.
Hope this helps0
