My child had a statement of special educational needs at school he has now left at 16 with a reading and writing age of 8. He is finding it very difficult to find work because of this but all my benefits have stopped ie child benefit, tax credits etc. My CSA support for him has also finished. Am i entitled to anything or do I have to support him until he can find employment whenever that may be?

Has he considered college, there are allsorts of courses avaliable at many different levels and benefits would then continue for another 2 years,he would also probably get £30 a week EMA,failing that maybe registering with connexions would get your benefits extended until the new year0 -
It really wasn't a good idea for him to leave education so early, both from a financial point of view and for his own development. Many colleges will offer courses for students in his situation but, as he's muissed the start of the year, his best bet will probably be an E2E course. This will give him £30 per week EMA and reinstate your benefits for him. Make an appointment for him with a Connexions PA who'll be able to sort him out.0
