My feedback number after my name is (63) with a blue star.
But if you look at my rating I have received 77 positive feedback 100% positive.
I nearly always buy things not sell things.
Today I just received 5 more positive feedbacks but my number has not gone up after my name. Does anyone know why this is. All five things are from the same person for 5 things so I expected my score to at least go up by one and it hasn't. Puzzled!
thanks for any help

Your feedback score only goes up when it is a unique buyer or seller. If you buy 5 things from the same seller it will only go up by 1 even if you bought off them months ago. Sometimes it takes ebay ages to update the feedback.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

To answer the original post..
You may also find that there is sometimes a time-lag with ebay updating the total score.
If you look on your profile page you will see your total number of positives, number of unique user feedbacks and number of negs. If you subtract the negs from the unique positives, this should be same as your feedback total. If it is not, just wait a few hours (or sometimes days) and it should correct itself. If it doesn't, then contact ebay customer support (good luck with this however as it is extremely unlikey that even if you do get a reply, that it is anything other than some regurgitated standard response).
Finally, I would not worry too much about the grand total. Most ebayers will simply use this as a guide and the % is often more telling that the total score. As a buyer it is unlikely that you wil get too many negs as long as you pay fairly promptly but as a seller it is more likely that you will get them.
To a good seller (and anyone above 99% would count as "good" in my book) a negative ALWAYS hurts. I have had over 5000 positives and 22 negatives (20 of which were simply tit-4-tats from non-payers who have been give negs by me) but each and every one of them got to me!
Ebay says that most people are going to look at my record overall but I still can't help feeling that there must be a better way. I even think twice now about leaving a neg to a non-payer as I know that 9 times out of 10 I will simply get an unjustified tit-4-tat comment back. Tends to make the whole feedback system a bit pointless!0 -
As welll as the numbers game, it's also worth looking at the comments - abusive negs can often be regarded as detrimental to the giver as well as the receiver. Equally, it's interestring reading positives as sometimes these can be left guardedly and provide clues as to the e-bayer's behaviour.Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0
