Trouble with sainsburys online shopping.

Hi

i'm not sure if this is in the right forum but it's food related so i thought i'd give it a go.

I ordered from sainsburys online and did a £40 shop (i live a way from the super market and don't have a car so i thought i'd give it a go to save my bad back!)

It worked really well, the man was bang on time and really nice but he was a bit 'old' and i think he forgot to give me one of the bags because there were 6 items missing from my reciept

now i know i should have checked the contents before i'd signed for the lot but this was the first time i'd done it and i wasn't really sure what i was doing.

I've emailed sainsburys twice but haven't had a reply other than the "your request is being deal with" type email

I'm a bit annoyed as i really needed 4 of the items that were actually on offer so i've had to go out and buy them from somewhere else at almost twice the price.

anyone able to offer me any advice on what to do now?

Whenever I've had missing items I've never had problems getting a refund, give them a ring on the customer services number listed on the receipt, that will be quicker than email.

    Haven't they got a customer care/helpline.

I've had a problem with Tesco before and sorted it out very quickly on the phone.

IUnrelated to that incident, I had a delivery from Tesco 2 weeks ago and before the driver left, I said that I thought there were things missing. He went to check in the van and there WAS another packet of groceries in there that were part of my delivery, but the sticker had fallen off the packet so he hadn't brought it in.

  • i'll give them a try on the phone then.

How often does this sort of thing happen? I'm really keen to shop this way in future as apart from the missing items it really was a very convenient way of shopping.

    all the time!!!!

It's easy enough to get a refund for the items but they never do anything to make up for the inconvenience. I've had the same problem with Tesco, Asda and Sainsburys. Either a bag forgotten or items completely damaged and unusable.

The other problem i have continually is the poor quality of fruit selected - they seem to offload the stuff no one will buy to online shoppers ... again getting a refund is usually not too tricky - but you've still got the inconvenience of getting the items again

i have to say that is one of the major downsides. Say if you buy chicken breasts you're as likely to get one with 3 pieces as 5 - if you buy it yourself you always go the 5 piece!

  • I have tried online shopping with Asda / Tesco & Sainsburys and I have to say I always end up back at Sainsburys. Their customer service is fantastic on the freephone number compared to Asda / Tesco, they usually refund / e-voucher straight away without asking too many questions. A couple of weeks ago I had a late delivery(£10 e-voucher) and didn't realise I had a bag of toiletries missing until the following day, got an e-voucher no problem. The following week I also had a late delivery(£10 e-voucher) 3 multi-bags of crisps missing and a defrosted frozen pizza, I rang and got another e-voucher. I have to say it doesn't happen very often, thank goodness.

    Just give them a ring.

I haven't done it for over a year now, but to be honest I have never found internet shopping very successful. I had bad experiences with both Tesco and Sainsburys, Sainsbury's being an utter disaster 2 weeks running, late, shopping missing and frozen food defrosted, ok, so you get a voucher/refund, but if its sunday lunch thats missing, then you still have to go out. Then you have the option of letting them chose a replacement for the item not on the shelf or not getting it at all...excuse me, since when are sausage rolls a replacement for cocktail sausages! And the yogurts turned out to be the Finesse ones at 50+p each, not the ones on special offer.
To be fair, I think it depends on where you live, and which store your delivery is coming from. I live on the edge of Coventry, but have a B'ham postcode, so my Sainsbury delivery comes from Northfield, around 20miles away, why I do not know!
