Lots of sandwich shops, on RE today, nowt else in my area though. They really are having a slow few weeks arent they! It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Need a bit of advice from an experienced MSer please. I had a job today for OC which had a decent fee and because of this I was prepared to travel a bit further than usual. It's a 28 mile round trip.
It turned out the place I was sent to had been closed down so I couldn't do the job. I've emailed them to let them know, and just had a reply - very nice and friendly, saying they will compensate me for my time and travel expenses, and they have sent an invoice for me to complete - for £10.
The mileage claim for my accounts for a 28 mile trip at 40p per mile is £11.20, and this doesn't take any account of my preparation time yesterday or my travel time today - oh and there was a car park fee as well.
So, how would you feel about this? Would you say it's just my hard luck that I agreed to do a visit so far away and I should be glad they are offering £10, or should I ask for more?
I don't want to upset them because I like working for them and they pay decent fees, but I would never take on a trip this far away if there was only a £10 fee.0 -
Thats a tough one s-cat, I don't know what I would do as I don't work for OC, I would probably email them and explain the travel time, parking, etc.
I would want everything they usually reimburse for transport and the fee, but not what you had to purchase. sorry could be more helpful.
Completely off topic - was just surfing the web for Mystery Shopping news and saw that Police forces are going to start using MS in Thames Valley / Oxfordshire and inviting people to join. Personally I think this is a waste of police time (not to mention money), don't they have enought to deal with.0 -
What do we have to do for the police ones, then? Do we have to get arrested for something and time how long it takes them to fill out the charge sheet????
Not sure what to do about the fee. I think Gap paid me in full once when the place was closed, but they don't pay much anyway! I think it's probably just my fault for accepting a job so far away.0 -

Can you imagine - were the handcuffs comfortable, were all areas of the the cell clean, were you addressed by your name.
Here's the article for anyone who is interested:

Was the forced confession handed to you with two hands?
Please rate the smile on the member of staff's face as they subdued you with the truncheon!!!
Sorry, getting carried away here!0 -

Leave it at the £10 and use the £1.80 and any other additional losses against tax bill.0 -

I don't agree.
Explain nicely to OC why you think you should get around £15.00 (reasons as you stated here).
They are a freindly bunch and probably will see reason.0 -

I agree with blindman, you shouldn't be out of pocket, give them a ring. I had a problem with an assignment last week and they were very friendly and helpful. Sorted it immediately!SPC 8 (2015) #485 TOTAL: £334.65
SPC 9 (2016) #485 TOTAL £84
SPC 10 (2017) # 485 TOTAL: £464.80
SPC 11 (2018) #4850
