The last two times I have started my PC, a small grey box appears and says something about Windows not being able to load my profile. It then loads up but with the basic desktop picture and none of my files or folders are there, it's almost like when you first load Windows. I have got back to normal by using system restore but I have just switched my PC on again and it's done the same thing again. Any ideas please?

Does it say something like - "cannot load profile so a temporary one will be used for this session?"
If so, when it logs into windows create yourself a new account. once done, have a look at your c:\documents and settings\USERACCOUNT
substitute USERACCOUNT with the name you used to login as.
You can then copy the files you want from that profile into your new one.
(you'll most likely need administrator rights to do it).
Maybe worth doing a google for profile repair tools first.0
